Description of the Listings
Maloney's Antiques & Collectibles Resource Directory contains over 20,000 specific entries in more than 3,000 subject antiques and collectibles categories. While we focus on antiques and collectibles, "Maloney's" also covers resources for art, gems & jewelry, dinnerware/flatware/crystal matching services, public awareness resources (heritage resources, endangered species, art theft & loss, and historic preservation), contemporary collectibles and, basically, resources for any type of personal property including race cars, machinery & equipment, and even meteorites and airplanes. Anything collectible!
Resources are arranged alphabetically by primary classification. Primary classifications are in CAPITAL letters. Sub-classifications appear (in Upper- and lowercase letters) where there are recognized subcategories.
Of particular importance is the extensive and comprehensive cross-referencing system which is found within the Subscriber Listee Search option that makes use of the alphabetical index. Cross-references re-direct the user to related subject matter. This highly-acclaimed cross-referencing system in unique to Maloney’s.

Of critical importance was the establishment of a classification system that employs a well-defined system that is sensitive to nomenclature currently in vogue within the collecting community. A bi-level system of nomenclature that includes primary classifications and, where necessary, sub-classifications, was adopted. Additional flexibility is afforded within either level by employing parenthetical divisions such as:
Entry Types
The entry type heading identifies the listing as an appraiser, auction service, book seller, collector, collector club, dealer, expert, grading/authentication service, internet resource, manufacturer/distributor/producer, matching service, miscellaneous service of special interest, museum or library, periodical, pricing resource, repair/restoration/conservation service, reproduction source, or supplier.
Database search query results are displayed with enhanced listings appearing first, followed by basic listings. Basic listings are displayed alphabetically by entry type and then in ZIP code order for ease in locating services or specialists in your area.
Entry types are self explanatory, but the following warrant additional comment:
